Hi, I have just built up a mod using the Titan and the v6 on my Taz 6 and have done multiple PID's at varying temps trying to fix this - 250, 265, 285, fans on, fans off... I'm trying to print at 275 and it just won't get there and it fluctuates quite a bit between 255 and about 268. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!! -john
No - not using the sock - but it easily gets there during the PID - I dont get it... 30W 24v heater - it's what they make for the taz "kit" - believe it's the exact same heater and resistor as the Taz 6. Now it's consistently about 10° lower than the set point even at 245° - WTF!? -john
It's really disappointing that this hot end is sold as a "print anything" hot end when in fact it can't hold a temp over 265 - no matter how you do the PID tuning - is there any solution????
The hotend can handle 300C out of the box. I do recommend using the sock. Could you measure the heater resistance, please? Also if you're achieving the correct temperature when PID tuning but not when printing, the problem is likely something along the lines of a poorly ducted part cooling fan problem, or improperly set PID gains. The fact that it is 10C below setpoint even at 245C indicates the PID gains are not set properly. Have you contacted E3D support?
It will hold 270 ok - not perfect - above is what happens when I raise to 275... I have checked the resistance and it's fine - I have changed out the thermistor and the heater with new ones - same issue. Plus, I have two extruder builds using the same parts (E3d V6) and both behave the same way. I have put the sock on - it prints fine at lower temps - I ran the autotune with 10 cycles at 285 and there are no fans on other than the heat break fan (P10.34 I1.97 D13.55) - it just won't reach 275 when printing - it's all very odd to me. I have to run the PID at around 260 for it to hold temps accurately - just won't get to 275. When i run the PID at 285 the whole thing get wonky and it won't hold any temps well.
