Hi, I'm actually assembling my first E3D hot end and it's a volcano. What I'm wondering about is the nozzle and heat break. When I tighten the nozzle after entering the heat break the heat break unscrews so the nozzle sits flush with the heat block. It's not like the picture in the manual with the space.
Which nozzle are you using? It works fine for me. Assembled with the heatbreak screwed in first, the gap between the base of the nozzle and the heater block is about 2.657 mm so there is scope to unscrew the heatbreak a little and screw the nozzle further in.
Think it was the 0.6 nozzle. Sitting on a plane destined for Dublin. It'll be next week before I can try again. I followed the steps on the V6 manual. Screw in nozzle and back off 1/2 turn. Screw in heat break until it buts. Tighten nozzle. But at this point the heat break just unscrews itself. Being pushed out by the nozzle.
You can screw the heat sink onto the heat break to get a better grip of it. Also once you have "tightened" it, don't forget to heat it up to 285C (I think that is the temperature) and tighten it again, otherwise the plastic will ooze out the heatbreak and probably the nozzle, and that is pretty difficult to clean out.
