A few people have said from time to time that it would be nice to have the designs for RichRap's toolboxes. I think people have asked and they've not been forthcoming, so I've begun modelling. Right side is done, and the left side shouldn't take long.

It's not an exact duplicate, but very much in the theme. The left side won't be the same at all as I found the hole selections completely pointless for me. Anyway, keep an eye out if you're interested.

It'll be a factor of nozzle size and print speed.

    Great minds think alike

I've been redesigning them too. Printed them out but have found the left one blocks me from removing the SD card. Needs a bit of surgery soon.

These are mine, complete with blocked SD card slot! I didn't want the to be L-shaped as I thought the z rods would get in the way.

One tip for anyone designing these themselves, when you put the undercut to clear the frame nut holders be aware that the frame isn't symmetrical! The left hand of the frame has the screws closer together............

Nice. Did you do anything to stop them from moving about?

Not as yet, there's cutouts to clear the nut holders so that helps a lot.

I think I'll use some double-sided tape to locate them in the end.

I tried that, but it wasn't that satisfactory. I was thinking of altering the rod mounts to push against the item, thus keeping it in place.

They're on the outside of the case right? If, there's no impact from them.

Hmm, if double-sided tape's a problem, fixing them more securely might be tricky. I'd not want to glue them down with superglue but maybe some UHU stick would work nicely enough and allow relatively easy removal.

You could put a couple of nuts in the side of the boxes but you'd need to drill matching holes or slots in the side plate of the machine. That's possibly a bit tricky if you've got an acrylic machine.

Some c-shaped clips could snap round the z-rods or maybe a cable-tie if you put slots in the boxes.

Thanks, but i meant with the internal clamp part, which is about 9mm thick. If they are in place the trays would be ~9mm from the sides, would that cause issue with the operation of the bed. i.e. do the toolboxes need to be fitted up flush to the sides? Would certainly look better that way, maybe i'll try to modify the tray or create similar ones.
