So does one just dunk into kerosene, swirl it around, sit for a while, and then let it air dry? Does kerosene leave a film or something?
It should be OK as long as it has not got a colorant, as this will leave a residue; in normal use it is burnt off.
Don't write something like this, someone could try this! "Hey E3D support I need new bushings, the seals melted when I tried to burn the kerosene away I used to degrease them..."
Don't know for any additives. But pure karosene can be used to degrease your car before waxing. Can be tough and dry out the paint so I do not think it leaves any residue. Had to google karosene and nitrile even Misumi recommended it. Karosene is safe to use on nitrile. But how long to dunk the bearings we will just have to figure out.
Luckily I'm not an idiot... Although I will note a few times having to suppress the urge to set my BB on fire in frustration...
Did anyone figure out how long to let the bearings soak for, I have some misumi stitting in a box I want to prep for idex .
I have been searching Misumi's site this is all I have found so far At the time of delivery Other than the MX Lubrication Units, MISUMI Linear Bushings are applied with Anti-rust Oil harmless to the bearing lubrication greases. After de-greasing the Antirust Oil, application of grease is recommended. The MX Lubrication Units are filled with lithium soap-based grease. L, G, and H Grease filled types are also available. Have a link to this information? Has anyone actually used kerosene or is that just a guess?
