So early this morning packed up the BigBox and lugged it to the hospital along with one of my plastics-surgery colleagues and a high-school student from my lab, and we took 16 nurses, plus a few others, through designing a part using OnShape CAD to teach them to solve immediate quality issues they encounter in the hospital (issues where a "thing" will help). Had a mix of laptops and iPads to do it, and it worked out great. The BigBox was cranking stuff out in the back for the class project (an imaginary problem to prevent confusion of IV ports). Nurses came from the OR, ED (A&E for you british types), infection control, med-surg, ICU among others. Already the ideas were flowing, and I suspect a bunch of devices will come out of this class.

Beautifully done @Henry feldman , you seemed to have captivated them and the white acrylic looks very medical! Super advert for 3D printing!

Although it's really the guy standing next to me in the first pic, who is. He 3D prints in silk!! He makes silk screws/nuts/plates for "plastic surgery". Really insane stuff. He's getting into bioprinting which I can't wait to try out (I am so making a Blinky from the simpsons)

The original publication (pre true 3D printing) in Nature. The picture of the silk screws is pretty cool!
