. . . also another link to here where you can read interesting stuff about Z-offset and to this I add my bit:

Today I decided to attack S3D as I have been using Slic3r on my old machine and, initially, for the BB. I started with Layer 1 settings by using the Hybrid profile and resetting the layer bits to default i.e. 100% extrusion multiplier and set up the filament and temps for Edge (220C/75C). I kept the scripts as they were with minor tweaks for my satisfaction. I had used mesh levelling in conjuction with a 0.02mm feeler gauge. The print bed was prepared with my PVA juice and the test piece was a 24mm diameter 0.2mm thick disc; the print was perfect first time but slightly thick at 0.22 to 0.25mm. I did try to use the Z-offset tweak but this seemed to ahve no efect, so will need further investigation. The finish is very good with no gaps between tracks but a very small gap between the perimeter and the short start track on the infill; I experienced this before with S3D when I tried it on my old kit. The pictures are not the best as they were done with the laptop.
