Are the hardened steel nozzle food safe? Are E3D everyday PLA food safe? When I read that the stainless steel nozzle is food safe, I start to wonder. What filaments and nozzles are safe to use for me and my pets? And how dangerous are the ones that aren't? Is this a real threat or is it an exaggerated one? Does anyone have any facts on this matter?
Food safe and 3D printing is a very finicky thing. It might be food safe, once, but once you get bacteria and food matter on the print it will get stuck in between the layers or other porosity. Hardened steel would in principle be food safe, but if you're concerned about that it's best to go with stainless.
We don't assert that any of our products are suitable or approved for medical or food safety. Some customers take it upon themselves to approve their systems and processes are suitable for things like this though, and this is what we provide stainless nozzles for. They are sold 'as is' in terms of suitability for whatever application they are used in.
