We must be getting real close to some more shipped bigboxes.... next week??
Who's got the lottery numbers???
haha he must know more then !!! my birthday is the 21'st may... love to trow in some haribo at the party
actually it is quite odd the prediction...there is also a chance my bigbox will ship on those dates too....
Hi Greg, guess it is time for an update...
Start of last week I asked the following...
... and you replied..
I know we don't have all pre-orders logged on this forum but it really didn't feel like anything much actually shipped last week other than Titan Upgrade kits, did the plywood frames get sanded as planned and are there now acrylic frame kits ready to go out?
Can we expect to see all 80 of the kits that you have motors for shipped out next week?
4 months late is about 8 months early for a kickstarter project in my experience
Out of curiosity, since this will be / is an open source project, is there any reason why they couldn't ship out the kits excluding the motors (which is the major bottleneck as far as i understand it), and we could source the motors elsewhere? Or are the motors custom built for the big box and they are not available anywhere else?
They have motors for the first 80 and only a few of those have shipped so far, so, no, I wouldn't say the motors are actually holding things up at the moment. Seems more like they have been waiting to get the frames ready ...
More motors are due in about another week via air freight so unlikely to be a big issue now...
It is no longer a kickstarter project.
To be devils advocate the people who supported the Kickstarter took a risk, acted as beta testers and got a printer that's already been superseded. It's unthinkable that the Titan wasn't in development before the Kickstarter design was shipped so at the very least the frame design could have been future proofed.
The frame was future proofed with bowden extruder holes on the back (that we all wondered about at the time).
Rather a tough call, I'd say, to predict the dimensions, mode of operation and spatial requirements of the eventual X-carriage design, which is itself a work in process.
I think some people have already redesigned it showing that the cutout is not entirely necessary.
Life's not all bad! ;-)
@R Design is entirely correct, @Alex9779 was kind enough to post his lifted design to thingiverse https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1515488, I believe his design bypasses the need for a frame cutout but I haven't had the chance to print it yet. Thanks Alex, looking forward to printing this week!
I wish i had known about that desgin before, my 1.0 carriage was damaged and now I have to upgrade with the regular design.
You do however need a longer bowden tube for this
I will upgrade to this quickly though
Greg? Any chance of an update?
From the customer side it feels like very little has actually happened in the last week with almost nothing shipped.
I imagine it feels different from your side so it would be good to share some more details so we know what is going on with the 80 units you had the parts to ship ...
We have been shipping non-octoprint kits. We have some cables stuck in customs which is holding us back from sending those out, they are due by the end of the week.
Aside from that Chris is packing backing and kits as quickly as he can. We shipped just under ten yesterday.
Thx for the update, ill be waiting on the octoprint cabels then
Thanks for the update Greg. Sounds like at least another week for mine then but good to know what's going on.
Greg, with literally months to prepare and all items paid for in full, how on earth do you manage to leave ordering cables until the last minute?
Thanks. This is all we ask for.
As long as there is something communicated (even if nothing was shipped) I believe that all (most) of us feel that we getting closer to a delivery...
Just can't stand the silence. It's like I have virtual tinnitus.
