    Hi,

    I'm looking at the E3D-v6 for my k8200.

    Question. The control board I have puts out 15v to the extruder heater cartridge. Do I need to change that for the 12v used in the E3D?

    If so, can you steer me to the directions to do that?

    Thanks,

    Dan

    Power = Voltage^2/R

    Thus you'd get more power out of it but being a 3v increase wouldn't be a dangerous increase like if you used a 12v cartridge on 24v. You'll see faster heat up times and a 25W heater would then be 40W on 15v. Which could be dangerous on a thermal runaway (in the same way 40W on 12v cartridges were dangerous) but it's also very commonly done

    The fan probably won't like being on 15v though so you should add a resistor on that line
