This is my E3D mounted in a dibond Mendel90. The mendel90 has a modified X carriage to mount the larger 40mm fan and a shroud I created in openscad. The shroud files are available on http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:203604 The thermistor wires go through the thermocouple hole for added stability and the thermistor is held in place with E-Z fuse tape. http://www.supergluecorp.com/original-s ... ue/ez_fuse
I like the use of the Sillicone tape for insulation - should really help with insulation etc. How do you find printing ABS with all that airflow that isn't ducted to keep it from cooling the print? Does it warp ABS? Or do you just print PLA?
I just print PLA. Little of the airflow seems to go downward. Nophead came up with the idea of using that tape first. It works well.
Another thing I've noticed is that the hysterisis on the heater seems lower. If I set the temperature to 220 then after initial oscillations it varies from 219.8 to 220.2 . I didn't check before adding the tape so I might be hallucinating.
