@Greg Holloway It says "Printed best with E3D's Edge at 50mm/s.", people are going to ask the obvious question, when will EDGE be available (I believe the end of this week possibly?). What filament is recommended for the high temperature bits? (or can EDGE be used for it all?) When can we expect an update to the firmwares for the various models?
That was a rhetorical question, right? Anything with a Tg over 100C will do, obviously the higher the better! Technically the firmware is available now at https://github.com/joshuarowley42 you just need to change a few numbers. Alternatively use @Alex9779 custom firmware. I understand he's done some tweaks![/QUOTE]
Sorry poorly worded, was a sort of a question, I was told that EDGE may be available by the end of this week, however nothing concrete and so was hoping for some clarification. What filament does BigBox use for the high temperature parts as I would like to use the same? The official firmware is at RC3 and does appear to have several defects which I think are addressed in later RC releases, I just wondered when the official E3D firmware would be updated?
Although ironically you can add it as a make, E3D and the BigBox aren't recognized brand/models of printers...
What is this E3D Edge you speak of? Nevermind...I want it without even knowing E3D take my money please! haha
I didn't check yet, but does anyone know if the part designs are also now available to fiddle with, rather than just the end-result STLs ?
@Greg Holloway OK. The step files can be imported. But there's no design information there visible (from what I can tell). I could go around measuring everthing, but that seems like a lot of effort. Totally OK with that if this is all that will be released. But I was under the impression that you designed it all in 123Design, or was it Tinkercad. In any case, the release of those designs would impart all information about the sizing and other design effects with that tool. It would be a great learning resource at the very minimum. Can they be made public (or duplicates of them perhaps, assuming you'll continue tweaking going forward) ?
I thought the 123dx design files were also present, isn't this what you are after? Such as bigbox_dual_v1.0.0.123dx which contains the design for the printed components for the initial dual 1.0 BB carriage.
Could be. I asked and was told step. I didn't know what a dx file was and, perhaps embarrassingly, didn't read the whole suufix there as 123dx. Let's see; thanks for pointing it out.
You can open the .123dx files in 123 Design as they are fully editable and I think what E3D designed BB in, you can then export 3D .stl versions of the design from 123 Design.
