Isn't this because in most laser CAM software the colors generally indicate function?

    Yes!

Red is cut last, blue is cut first, green is vector engrave (don't cut all the way through only about 0.5mm) and black is engrave (1mm is plenty).

Yeah, people forget that CNC Milling CAM is inverse 3D printing, while laser cutting CNC CAM is a totally different world since you kind of call functions of the cutter, like you state rather than slicing a 3D model up into sequential steps

Thanks Greg. That is what I was looking for. Might even convert all the dxf into a 3d model.

I wish I knew what your were doing. Even after watching many videos and reading tutorials I found the software completely frustrating. My biggest complaint is no matter what I tried I couldn't get things to align properly.

...and those colors can vary by shop and laser cutter capabilities.

@Greg Holloway now a real question, when will EDGE filament be available? I was originally told towards the end of last week, I am sure I am not the only one interested in this filament.

@Sanjay @Josh Do either of you have a date for when EDGE will be launched, I certainly hope that it will be released when it is launched ;)

Can you hear the silence? :p

At least I know now that I don't have to experiment with hotend silicone sleeves, I just have to wait... And wait... ... ... And wait...

Didn't they announce Edge on April 1st? It would explain a lot of things if they did!

I can't get on with it either. But if you check out Xrobots.co.uk and its YouTube channel he's made some complex mechanical parts using only 123D design. I guess the art isn't in the brush ;)
