Has anyone gotten a bill from FedEx for Duty and Taxes from GB?
Hmm i have ordered several items from E3D as far as filament and never got that. Plus ordered other things from overseas.
I would question FedEx about that one. Seems strange. but it maybe where you are located perhaps?
I got the same thing. We Probably surpassed some price point where they tax you. I've ordered from E3D in the past under $100 and received nothing.
I got one, but can't figure out a way to pay it online. I hate calling people...
They automatically took $18.57 from my account and I got the bill days later, I thought it might have been fraud.
Bit of experience here as I handle all the importing from E3D for www.filastruder.com
The cutoff is $200 - anything valued over that gets import tax/duties. FedEx will charge you, if they have a FedEx account on file for your address they will auto-debit it. If you do not have an account on file you must call in - it cannot be paid online. If you do not pay it, you get sent to collections. I know this because the first shipment I imported before setting up an account with FedEx, I never got an invoice for. A few months later I was contacted by a collections agency. It was actually pretty painless to fix, but FedEx doesn't mess around with their customs fee collection process.
This is crap. I can't stand how slow companies are with modernized payment/scheduling techniques
Oh I agree! And the call in system is terrible, in the early days before I set up an account I'd call in 3 invoices at a time and had to repeat all the credit card info (including address) 3 times over. They couldn't pay all at once.
DHL is actually the easiest to pay online. UPS makes it nearly impossible to do online, I've done it before but it actually is faster to just call it it in.
I sincerely hope this is about the US, i remember having paid taxes already
Thank you for posting about this. I had no idea, I will be sure and pay it when I get it. Lame but whatever...
Seriously getting worried here, is this for shipment outside europe ?
sounds like it, at least to the US for sure.
If you paid VAT, you shouldn't be assessed further charges.
I am US, Elmoret is US, I think everyone else is also US.
Edit: Everyone else being everyone saying they received or were charged import from Fedex.
How quickly did this arrive, since I have yet to receive a bill?
I received my printer Dec 22, was charged Dec 31 and received the invoice for the charge by Jan 15. I ordered 2 jet packs, a few rolls of filament, and a bunch of other little extras so I thought it may have been because of that.
I have yet to receive a bill from FedEx. I did receive a Customs notification, but it was not a bill. Very odd and now concerned about the collections thing. Do we know if they send out more than one bill?
Invoices are generally generated within 30 days of the delivery date. In my experience, they'll send 2 notices (one about 30 days after the first one) and then its off to collections. If there's an account on file with that address, they send you a couple pages that look kinda like a bill but the amount due is zero. Not sure what you mean by "customs notification"?
It is possible that you small fry guys with your $800 imports aren't triggering the more aggressive collections policies.
I just found the bill. It is for $13.39 from FedEx. The first document I received was just a summary of activity. I'll login to FedEx and see if the amount is still due as I now have an account.
Thanks for making me look through my piles. It was in a stack to be scanned and recycled.
My BigBox was shipped on 2/25/206, received on 2/29/2016 and I received the notification today (3/11/2016).
