Hi fellow Makers, I understand the Bigbox is no longer in production; however, since the printable files and on Thingiverse, is there someone selling the acrylic, rods and other non-printable parts? Even the plans for the acrylic would be enough, I can cut them myself if necessary... If anyone knows anything about how to get a Bigbox now that they're not being made anymore, please share Thanks in advance, Kryss
You can find the plans for acrylic and partlist on Thingiverse. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1521722/#files
Thanks. I've read elsewhere about 5mm acrylic, is that the only size or would 6mm work too? How do I know what size to print the PDFs, or any of the acrylics? The manual (https://wiki.e3d-online.com/wiki/BigBox_Pre-Build) is for people buying the kit, so it doesn't give any dimension that I can find...? I guess I will need AutoDesk to access the 123DX & AutoCAD files (I can't open them in FreeCAD) and something to access the STP files?
No, my acrylic is about 4,89mm if I remember correctly. The cutouts might not fit if the acrylic is thicker than 5mm. Not sure how much margin they put into the design. You would have to modify the plans but it is perfectly doable. The 123D files can be opened with Fusion 360 (free for non profit and hobby use). You need to unzip the 123d-file and find the part files inside. There is a howto on F360 forums somewhere.
So it turns out the acrylic has a reasonable variation in thickness (designed in) in this post from a while back https://forum.e3d-online.com/index.php?threads/wrong-thickness-sheet-of-perspex.824/
Did you not get my reply, cez...? I'm not on Facebook, I can't find any "Liam" on this forum... How do I find this guy???
Hello, i have some spare parts of acrylic (white, red, blue and gray); which of them you'll need? and what is you location? Also have all rods and microbarbs (2mm, 2.5mm and 3mm)
