New member here, greetings to all from Stellenbosch, South Africa.

I've been printing on my Prusa i3 clone for 2 years without having any real issues but now experiencing a strange one that has me totally mystified.

I've just replaced the heating element, the heat block and the heat break on my V6 hot end (still using the original heat sink). With the hot end assembled and installed in the printer, the temperature won't go above 160 deg and is then followed by a Marlin TEMP FAILED message.

Removing the heat sink and fan and then heating the hot end, the temp goes straight to 200 deg without pause. Refitting the heat sink, without the fan, also gives me the required 200 deg. Refitting the fan then causes the temp to drop to around 190 deg and hang there. If I reassemble and start the heating process again from room temperature, it only gets to 160 deg max.

Up until the changes mentioned above, I had not experienced this issue.

I believe that the new heater element is 12v 40w but can't be certain about that which could possibly be the source of the problem.

Hope my explanation makes sense. Any comments/advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hello,

Can you post photos of your setup? Also where did you get the parts from? What voltage is your system?
