A new coating for the hardened steel nozzles was announced at MRRF2018 that will reduce filament sticking:

Is there any word on the release date for them?

In the process of developing those, a new and better approach was discovered. The approach described in that video won't be used, as the new design is better. "new design" is "coming soon", which is E3D-speak for a couple months.

Always had a problem with Volcano and Edge filament being dragged around stuck to the nozzle. I'm sure there are other reasons for this but this coating sounds like it will help.

I assume the news will come in the Email news letter?

    Possibly in the blog too?

    Link to an article there...

A couple months from when I said a couple months (October 16th) is still reasonable.

I searched high and low for a coating that prevented melted plastic from sticking for a different application. No luck finding one that prevented it completely. Most coatings preformed the same with the sticking. I went with a diamonized coating because it worked slightly better than everything else and with out thermal issues of PTFE.

You guys should look into them. You wouldn’t have to worry about the finish ever wearing off the tip if you did because that is where the problem originated from. Coating gone from the tip and it will be moving to the sides easier...
