I just bought and received Titan Aero complete kit 12V 1.75. I'm following the directions and assembling it when I noticed the shaft of the nema17 is completely round. The stepper motor shaft does not have a flat side which normally a grub screw is tightened to. It's completely round! Is the motor suppose to be this way?

There are pluses and minuses for round vs. D-shafts. You can use a Dremel tool with a cylindrical stone to quickly grind a flat where the grub engages. You can make sure none of the steel dust gets into the stepper by holding the stepper with the shaft pointed down when you grind the flat.

I would be tempted to wrap the motor in a rag and/or make a hole in a piece of cardboard to push the shaft through to keep the dust away as regardless of the orientation the dust will go everywhere. The old trick of using a little grease to catch the metal dust won't work unless you want to redecorate. :)
