Simple watercooled v6

    Hi

    i watched the live stream and wonder why a simple watercooled v6 has not been thought of

    ie notch out a small section of the 2nd fin on the heatsink. on 3rd fin notch out on the oposite side

    then fit a barrel over the heatsink. to make it tight the barrel needs to be about 0.1mm to small

    heat up the barrel and frezze the heatsink. then slide the barrel over the heatsink and let it get to room temp.

    add 2 pushfit connectors and it should be a done deal

    or do my simple mind overlook something?

    production wise i imagine the only difference comes in to play when it should be watercooled

    I found that the 1/2" copper pipe leading to the heatsink restricted the X-Carriage movement a little!

    copper pipe is also not suited

    better to use silicone hose or ptfe (with enough internal diameter)

    The reason is that it is considerably more complicated/expensive to machine all the fin geometry only to put a sleeve over it (and try to seal that sleeve).

    The water-cooled version of the Chimera/Cyclops can work just fine with only one heat break, this would function like a v6 at around the same cost or lower than a water-cooled "v6".

    that works with bowden systems, but not direct systems......

    As Elmoret said, we initially considered making a V6 only water-cooled system, but the hotend ended up being larger, heavier and more expensive than the Chimera + water-cooled.

    If you want a direct drive extruder, we would recommend using the Titan Aqua, which also cools the motor. Water-cooled hotends are designed to run in heated environments, therefore it makes no sense to use a direct drive toolhead if the motor is not cooled in some ways.
