Hello all. I have just completed the install of the hotend/Titan upgrade kit on my Ultimaker 2 Extended, and I am having an issue with the Titan extruder. It seems to be functional, as it makes a "servo" type sound, but the large gear wheel does not turn at all. Is there any way to properly troubleshoot this matter?

I removed the extruder mechanism and used the "move filament" command to see if the servo was operating. I can hear a pulsing sound like it is getting the command, but there is no motion. Perhaps the voltage to the motor is too low?

I also removed a small clip-on magnet that went around the servo wires in the electronics housing, which I assume is for RF suppression. Would this have any effect on operation?

In case it matters, I have updated the firmware and loaded the eprom update off the SD card.

    Thank you!

I also have issues with the stepper motor in the Titan not running smoothly as seen here
while running a material change cycle. It appears that the parameters are not correct in the hex file and gcode program.

I sent a message to tech support on 2/1 and got an automated reply saying my request (3070) was being reviewed but have yet to get a reply. Maybe I should try again?

At least your motor is running! I also have been waiting since Sunday for Tech Support to help me with this problem.

I have the worst case of buyer's remorse right now. I should have bought the Ultimaker upgrade kit!

You could try sending a PM to Dan Halsall if you're not getting a response from support. https://forum.e3d-online.com/index.php?members/dan-halsall.1024/

What you describe sounds like it could be incorrect current. Or you could have got a defective motor. Is it possible to reconnect the original stepper and see it behaves the same?

The lack of replies is probably because not too many users of the forum have an ultimaker so just don't know rather than not wanting to help.

E3D apparently had a batch of bad motors slip by QC. They said they would send a replacement and never did. I then returned the entire kit and got the Ultimaker OEM upgrade which works perfectly.

And you haven't returned it for a full refund why?

The OEM Ultimaker upgrade kit works perfectly right out of the box. Do it.
