    Hi All!

I am upgrading my prusa to dual extrusion. I am using 2 extruders together on a Chimera hotend. I designed my own mount to use 1 bowden, 1 direct extrusion together.

    • Wade Greg's Accessible Extruder as bowden (groove adapter)
    • MK9 extruder as direct with a short PTFE tube
So far, I have not been able to succeed with MK9. It gets stuck always.

But I must say, pressure against filament on Chimera is higher than what I had with Hexagon hotend. Though Wade's extruder works anyway.

I can not even pull back the stuck filament on MK9 side.

    What should I do? http://postimg.org/gallery/2auejmm4y/

The short answer for this is that Mk9 extruders and direct extruders of this type in general are pretty weak sauce and lack the oompf to get the job done. Geared extruders are king.

Just to check that it really is the extruder it might be worth swapping around the bowden tubes so that you're using the other nozzles with each extruder. If the geared extruder works fine through the nozzle that the Mk9 struggled with then the extruder weakness is your problem. If the geared extruder struggles with the other nozzle too then there's something else wrong in the hotend and we'll work with you to fix it, but I strongly suspect that the extruder is the issue here.
