Here I am, an unlucky guys I guess where a driver came DOA (and yes I am the guy of the fire). So I need to order some drivers (I decided to get some spares) so the questions is, should I get the standard one (which I cannot see on the shop) or should I just move to the DRV8825? If I move to the DRV8825, I hear these are back compatible (plug and play not changes needed), is it true? Thanks.
I ordered some too, I have only heard good things about them. And from what I have read, you only have to make sure you are installing them in the correct orientation, other than that just adjusting the voltage as with the originals. I am looking forward to seeing if the 32 stepping works. I have actually had no problems with mine, just heard it would quiet it down and supposedly gives better results.

I got some of them and yes you have to take care to mount them correct. Compared to the A4988 upside down. And the rev voltages are different...
Well, the first that mounts some and work ... post it here and tell where from. E3D support so far has been amazing with me ... so I am inclined to buy from them (when I need something they have).
Yes they do... http://e3d-online.com/A4988-Stepper-Driver-with-Heatsink http://e3d-online.com/DRV8825
No they don't As of yesterday ! Re "Rumba" "We are not selling single items on the website at the moment. You could try eBay, you will be able to find one there. Kind regards, Catriona"
Quick compare with one of those Astrosyn Dampers installed and hot end fans running BigBox 1.0 Dual Kickstarter default stepper driver (A4988 I think) video DRV8825 from ebay (china IIRC) video (0.30V)
I can not tell if the dampers make a diff, do not remember it and of cause did not make a before after video
No sorry, maybe I was not clear, the damper I installed like 4-6 weeks ago. The video was just the replacement of the driver... now 3,5h ago. The diff in the videos is 100% driver related.
