Did you make a new hole for it or did you use an existing one?

Sorry to just jump in here, but I've had success drilling through the acrylic panel. I was afraid to crack it so I was careful to not apply too much pressure and I let the drill do most of the work. A small pilot hole may help too.

Maybe you could get away with a smaller hole by installing the duet connector after feeding the wires through?
