Just screw it a little. It'll self-tap. Bizarre as it looks (like the cannon on a tank I thought), that's not far off how it will eventually be fixed. It's used to tune the X end stop.
No kidding. When I first put it on, I was sure I had missed some critical step, because it was just too weird. A small mention in the instructions that this will be used later, and it should just stick out would reassure the builder.
