So I finally at the stage where I am getting ready for my first print. All axis are homed and everything is ready to go.

I have the 8 mm pitch threaded lead screws so naturally I adjusted the z-axis steps/mm to 400...

The issue is when at 400, the bed only goes about halfway down. If I leave the steps/mm at 1600, the bed attempts to travel too far (I didn't try it, but I was only at apx. 150 and the bed was at the base of the big box). I have settled at putting the steps/mm at 800 which seems to do the trick... I used calipers to verify the height and the height from the nozzel to the bed is the same as what the LCD screen reads.

This doesn't make any sense to me why this 800 steps/mm would work if the lead screws are either 8mm pitch or 2mm pitch. Has anyone else seen this issue before?

Makes sense if you have mounted the .9° motors on the z-axis instead of the 1.8°
